Goole Android Power User Tips: How to Import Contacts to an Android Mobile?

Coming to changing of mobile phone and switching on to new trend of mobile software(you might be thinking of the Android). This tutorial will show you on how to import contacts to an mobile phone.

Its pretty easy to move your old phone contacts to Android phone. As you know Android is powered by Google it includes Google Contacts and your mobile phone would be sync to Google Contacts. So if you have your contacts on Google Contacts then you can easily sync them on to your Android mobile phone.

Now here two cases exists -

  • Migrating from Windows Phone to Android
  • Changed Mobile Phone

For Changed mobile phone, there exists easy solution to get your contacts from your old mobile. If you have just migrated from Android to Android it will be done in few clicks because all you need is the internet and you are ready to sync with your associated Gmail ID.

Other Mobile to Android

But you would be clueless if you are moving from other platform like Windows Mobile. Its also pretty simple but require simple work to do. Follow the procedure mentioned below -

  • If you have contacts on your old GSM phone the export them on your SIM card and then sync your mobile phone to your computer.
  • Now export your contacts from there to a CSV format.
  • Now go to Google Contacts (from any browser on your PC or mobile) and click on import the CSV file. Within a certain period of time it would be imported on to Google Contacts.
  • Now on your Android mobile navigate to Contacts > Settings > Display Options and select Only Contacts with phone(this step is to ensure that Google Contacts doesn’t add your Gmail ID as it by default add them to Google Contacts).
