Android 2.2 Froyo update hits the T-Mobile Motorola Defy (Google Android Repair & Unlock by www.drmobiles.co.nz)

For some owners of Motorola's resilient smartphone the Defy, the wait is finally over. Those on T-Mobile in US are finally getting the Froyo 2.2 update that some Android users have been enjoying since as far back as summer last year.
The Defy shipped with Eclair 2.1 and, at the time, offered plenty of bang for your buck. However as time passed and competition improved the smartphone started slipping down the ranks. Fortunately now Motorola are bringing the Defy's first update, which will help it regain some ground.
The Android 2.2 Froyo update is available over the air. You can get it by going to "About Phone" in the device's Settings menu and hitting "System Software Updates". The download itself is around 112MB so it's advised to get it onto your handset whilst connected over Wi-Fi or using an appropriate data plan.
The Defy's Android Froyo 2.2 update brings benefits such as Wi-Fi Hotspot functionality (up to 5 devices), Flash support and allows you to install apps to the SD card as well. On top of these blanket improvements, Motorola have also been tinkering and tweaking the Defy's performance and have added new profiles, each with three customisable home screens, contacts search from your dialler, LinkedIn account integration to your contacts, social networking and messaging updates and revamped gallery UI.
Across the pond, European Defy owners should soon too be able to start getting Defy updates, according to Motorola's update schedule.

2011: Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play preview: First Look (Sony Ericssion Repair & Unlock by www.drmobiles.co.nz)
Mobile gaming is at an all-time high thanks to big-screen touch smartphones. But it was when the Sony Ericsson XPERIA PLAY was announced that gamers hearts went aflutter. The PlayStation phone has been rumored ever since Sony joined Ericsson and now it’s finally as real as it gets - and it’s in our hands at last. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA PLAY is half phone, half portable game console – Android all the way. What sets the PLAY apart from other phones on the market are the dedicated game controls – they are pretty much the same controls you’ll find on a PSP Go or a PlayStation DualShock controller. And there’s the 4” touchscreen of course. How can it get better than that? A catalog of PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 games for one (though we’ll have to wait a while for the PS2 games). When the Sony Ericsson XPERIA PLAY launches, there should be about 50 optimized games in its Playstation Pocket game store. Not a bad startup catalog. The PlayStation Pocket game store will be filled with content from Sony Computer Entertainment, Electronic Arts, Gameloft, Namco and others and will be your go-to place for getting new games. The PLAY comes with six games pre-installed to get you started. Gaming is central to the XPERIA PLAY but it doesn’t eclipse the Android smartphone. A 4” FWVGA (480x854) touchscreen, a 1GHz CPU and Android 2.3 Gingerbread allow the PLAY to handle day-to-day smartphone tasks with ease.

HTC Incredible S review: Smart and Curvy (HTC Repair & Unlock by www.drmobiles.co.nz)
The unfortunate naming aside (seriously, didn’t anyone say it out loud before they announced it?), the Incredible S is a pretty great smartphone. You’ve got spotless connectivity, an exciting new screen, those cool rotating buttons and the proven power of Snapdragon under the hood. HTC has earned a name for itself and there’s no wonder that the launch of the Incredible S was greeted with excitement. Their new potential bestseller is too important a device to go unnoticed even if it tries to be merely an evolutionary, rather than revolutionary step forward. It seems the Incredible S has got the proper set of ingredients to make for a really capable smartphone at a reasonable price (for a high-end device, that is). 2010 was the year of the droid in the smartphone calendar and Google will undoubtedly try to serve us more of the same in 2011. To achieve such an explosive growth is a tall task, but certainly not impossible. There are two things that the Open Handset Alliance will need to achieve in order to complete it. First, they will need to finally grab a sizable share of the lower mid-range market and second they need to maintain their positions in the high-end segment, which has been their stronghold lately. And while the implosion of Symbian will certainly help the droid army with their march towards lower segments, some serious efforts will be required to keep iOS and the rapidly improving WP7 at bay on the top. That’s why devices like the HTC Incredible S are so important. Not only do they need to generate as much revenue as possible for their manufacturer, but they also need to perform well to maintain the platform’s reputation. This certainly is a heavy burden, but is the Incredible S fit to carry it?![]()

LG Optimus 2X review: Double the potential (LG Repair by www.drmobiles.co.nz)
Begun the dual-core revolution has. And there’s no scouting time – the offensive starts with the big guns. The LG Optimus 2X is not just counting on the fancy Tegra 2 name to generate the sales – it is a powerful smartphone through and through. The fancy camera with Full HD video recording alone is enough to bring any handset into the limelight and the fact that it’s not even the Optimus 2X key feature speaks volume. As far as hardware evolution goes, the Optimus 2X promises to be one of the biggest steps forward in the mobile phone industry. There are always a few compromises necessary with modern-day smartphones, but those are brought to a minimum with the Optimus 2X. You have a relatively good display (large, too), lots of oomph under the sleek hood and an excellent snapper at the back, plus all but the kitchen sink in the connectivity department. Or at least that’s what papers will make you believe. Our experience, however, has thought us better than blindly believing the fancy PR talk. The excellent first impression certainly helps the Optimus 2X cause, but we’ll only be able to recommend it wholeheartedly if it passes the test of a full review.
