Naztech Ultra-thin Slide-out Bluetooth Keyboard for Apple iPhone 4 (tech, product, news update)

Naztech-product-slide-out-iphone-4-bluetooth-keyboardDespite the prognostications of this blogeroo's editor-in-chief re: physical keyboards on smartphones ("In two years, everything will be touch-screen keyboards.  Suck it up and get used to it"), there are still plenty of folk out there -- whether they be legacy Blackberry users, sausage-fingered iPhoners, or what have you -- who go to bed every night praying that their House of Jobs handset would come with a real, live keyboard.

Well, Uncle Steve may not have heard your prayers, but Naxtech did.  Their ultra-thin, slide-out Bluetooth keyboard (US$86.99) snaps onto your Death Star or Nerd Network iPhone, sends out a wireless "how's your mama," and the next thing you know there's a real life, tactile QWERTY keyboard under your thumbs as you're typing, texting, and maybe even sexting to your heart's content.

The Naztech keyboard runs off its own lithium battery (and charges via its own Mini-USB port), and has a separate on-off switch so you can conserve power when you're actually, y'know, touching the screen for a reason.  Ergonomically, it's not without its quirks: it slides in and out best if you apply pressure either dead center or on both outer edges simultaneously, and (compared to a phone with a dedicated flip keyboard) the top row is a bit close to the edge of the phone, so enter those digits with caution.  Other than that, it absolutely performs as advertised and is the perfect gift for that virtual-keyboard-phobe friend.

How to Download and Install the iTunes 10.3.1 Update and What Features Are Included

**WARNING**
This post is for academic research and educational purpose only.  You are solely and strictly responsible for what you do with your computer or updating your iTune.  If you are not sure what you are doing, please contact your computer retailer or consult your user manual.

iTunes is not static software, but instead a constantly changing intermediary between your mobile devices, computer, and online shopping center.  iTunes 10 integrated a whole new set of features in an effort to draw in social networking and make the way for the iOS 5.  There have been a number of small upgrades since then, and most recently the iTunes 10.3.1 update has been added and people are scrambling to keep their system up to date.  Though this is not the largest iTunes upgrade that has been released, there are still going to be crucial iTunes 10.3.1 features that you will need for your integrated system.  Here is a look at how to download and install the iTunes 10.3.1 update and a look at what features are going to define this new incarnation.

  Picture 8

You can start by going to the Apple icon in the upper left hand corner, then choosing the Software Update option from right under About This Mac.  This will initiate the Software Update system, which will see what available software you have to update through the Apple system, which could actually be more than just the iTunes 10.3.1 update.

  Picture 14

Once you see that iTunes is there and checked you can hit the Install Item button in the lower right hand corner, and the process of installation will begin.  You will likely be asked to then enter in your computer’s administrative password if that is set on your computer.  After this you will then be asked to Agree to the User License Agreement for iTunes.  Make sure that your are closed out of iTunes as the Software Update begins, otherwise it will halt you and remind you that it must be exited for the installation to proceed.  Once the update has completed you will get a message indicating this and the Software Update system will check again to see if any other software updates are available.  Once you now re-open iTunes you will then find that you have an updated version of iTunes.

  Picture 16

The 10.3.1 update is fairly significant as small upgrades go, really trying to get itself even more in sync with the array of mobile devices that use it as the mother ship.  One of the key iTunes 10.3.1 features that you will receive with this is an automatic download function that allows for content downloaded from an external device or computer to then be downloaded directly to your Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.  This is a process of centralizing the purchases onto your various iOS device, which will be something that people will be used to once they get iCloud.

The other major iTunes 10.3.1 feature is that you will be able to download any previous purchases that you have had without paying for anything else.  This is especially important for people who have reformatted their computer or lost all of their iTunes media for some reason, though they will be unable to be found if the songs or movies are not actually at the iTunes store any longer.

  Picture 19

Another addition that comes along with the iTunes 10.3.1 update is really just to the iTunes Store itself and less about your own computer.  Now there will be a Books section added to the store to match the television shows, music, podcasts, and movies.  You can then integrate them directly to iBooks on iOS devices and the same two iOS 10.3.1 features, automatic downloads and the ability to download previous purchases, will work for them just the same.

IPhone 4

Time flies. It's hard to believe that it's already been four years since the original iPhone was released, exactly four years today. As far as specs go, the iPhone is pretty standard when compared to today's smartphone choices, and operating systems are a matter of preference. That wasn't the case four years ago. The iPhone truly broke new ground for the smartphone market. The interface was smooth and the design was slick for the time. www.drmobiles.co.nz

Let's take a brief look at the history of the iPhone's design.

1) iPhone - June 27, 2007

IPhone 1st gen

This was announced January 2007 and released June 29th, 2007. Yeah, it's slow and clunky by today's standards, but back then it ran circles around the competition. Steve Jobs teased the audience at first by saying he was introducing three new devices, a touchscreen iPod, an internet browsing device and a phone. He kept repeating those phrases and paused, asking the crowd if they'd caught where he was going with it. He said that it's one device, and he introduced the iPhone.

2) iPhone 3G - July 11, 2008

IPhone 3G

This phone was introduced on June 9th, 2008 at WWDC. It wasn't a major upgrade under the hood. It didn't seem much faster, but the design was beautiful for its time. It felt trimmed down (though we hear it's a little thicker, but the curved back made it feel thinner) and was given a shiny plastic backing.

3) iPhone 3GS - June 19th, 2009

IPhone 3GS

The design of the iPhone 3GS isn't all that different from the previous model, but it was significantly faster than the iPhone 3G. It felt a bit thicker than the 3G because of the slightly more curved back, but it wasn't enough to make a huge difference. Most users probably wouldn't even notice a change unless they held them side by side.

4) iPhone 4 - June 24th, 2010

IPhoone 4 - 2The iPhone 4 was unveiled (for the second time) on June 7th, 2010. Steve even joked about the leak by saying "Stop me if you'e seen this." He then added, "believe me, you ain't seen it yet." This phone introduced the Retina display and FaceTime, both of which are becoming standard on iOS devices.

What's Next?

Is it the iPhone 4S? The iPhone 5? What will it look like? We've heard both stories. Some say it's going to look pretty much like an iPhone 4, other reports say it's going to be a complete redesign. Of course you can bet that we'll be around to cover the announcement when it happens (September, reports say) and we'll be right here with you to see what's new. www.drmobiles.co.nz

Albany Westfield Shopping Mall: Apple iPhone 3GS Water damage repair; no inspection fee paid.

One customer referred by a telco in the Albany Super Centre (Westfield Shopping Mall) to repair his water damage Apple iPhone 3GS.  He was shocked by a small company (not even an iPhone repair specialist) want to charge $85 (not refundable) "inspection fee".

Another joke is that a smaller outfit wans to charge $45 inspection fee and wait 4-7 days for results on the water damaged iPhone.

Well, the customer found us; we inspect it for him at NO COST and tell him what is wrong and what needs to be replaced to repair and get the Apple iPhone 3GS going agin.  All were done in one day and repaired within his budget!

We have hooked up with this happy customer on facebook and twitter.
